1st LEG SPLIT-PALERMO(SICILY) – 570 NM; 10.10.2015-20.10.2015

Plan is to leave Marina kaštela  on 10.10.2015. and start our 1st leg SPLIT –Palermo. These 570NM can offer seing some of the oldest ports of the mediteranean as it stops in Lastovo, Brindisi, Santa Maria di Leuca, Crotone and Messina.

Founded during the greek times these ports are some of the eldest towns in Italy and centers of Mediteranean trade since ancient times.

Santa Maria di Leuca is famous for the iconic lighthouse which is the second most important lighthouse in Italy, after Genova  and marks passage through gate of Adriatic- where Adriatic and Ionian sea meet. Dependent on the weather conditions plan is also to visit Lipari -largest of a chain of islands in avolcanic archipelago between Vesuvius and Etna  and Stromboli Vulcano nicknamed “Lighthouse of the Mediterranean” since it has erupted many times and is constantly active with minor eruptions, often visible from many points on the island and from the surrounding sea.

This leg ends in Palermo-Sicily. Island’s capital city is perfect for those who love unpredictability and adventure:  chaotic streets, disheveled buildings and its residents – known for rule bending and suspicion of outsiders – interesting. To understand this unique city wander its streets and the mix of their architectural style, as well as the look of the locals, will tell you of many invaders who have claimed the city as their own. This mystical city always has and always will be an urban melting pot.
